I’ve been in real estate since 2000, but I still believe the most valuable thing I can offer a client isn’t the number of years I’ve been doing this. It’s knowing what matters, what doesn’t, and when the difference can cost you money.

I’m a Compass real estate agent based in Lafayette, California, representing buyers and sellers throughout Lafayette, Orinda, Oakland, Berkeley, and the surrounding East Bay. Over the course of my career, I’ve helped clients navigate more than 200 East Bay home sales, from first-time purchases to complex move-up sales and significant luxury properties.

My approach is strategic, hands-on, and candid. I believe good representation means giving clients clear advice, even when that advice isn’t necessarily what they expected to hear.

More Than 25 Years in Real Estate

I began my real estate career in Shaker Heights, Ohio, later became licensed in Florida where I worked in the Northern Palm Beaches, and earned my California real estate license after moving to Oakland's Rose Garden neighborhood in the East Bay in 2013.

I spent more than eight years at Redfin, where the volume and variety of transactions gave me an unusually broad view of the market. I’ve represented buyers and sellers across Oakland, Berkeley, Piedmont, Lamorinda, and the surrounding communities, through very different market cycles and at very different price points.

Today, I’m with Compass in Lafayette, bringing that depth of East Bay experience to a market that is also my own community.

A Different Eye for Houses

Long before real estate, I studied interior design and fine art, with a concentration in ceramics. That background still shapes the way I look at property.

When I walk into a house, I’m not only thinking about comparable sales. I’m looking at proportion, light, materials, layout, sightlines, condition, and how a buyer is likely to experience the space.

For sellers, my role as a listing agent starts well before a home reaches the market. That means identifying which improvements can meaningfully improve a home's presentation and market value, and which ones probably aren’t worth the money. I work closely with clients on preparation, repairs, design decisions, staging, pricing, and positioning.

For buyers, my role as a buyer’s agent means looking beyond someone else’s furniture or an unfortunate paint choice and assessing the house itself: what works, what could work, and what may become an expensive problem.

I also returned to ceramics several years ago and am active in the local art community, including The ArtRoom in Lafayette. Making things with my hands again has only reinforced how much I value good design, craftsmanship, and homes with personality.

Lafayette Isn’t Just a Market I Cover

Lafayette is part of my everyday life. I’m raising my daughter here, and our family’s experience with Lafayette schools has spanned private school in the early elementary years, Happy Valley Elementary, and now Stanley Middle School. I’ve experienced this community not from a relocation guide, but through school drop-offs, activities, friendships, carpools, and the ordinary rhythms that actually make a place feel like home.

My daughter plays with Lamorinda Lightning Lacrosse, and I’m part of the Temple Isaiah community, where  you may occasionally find me playing Mah Jongg.

That lived experience gives me another layer of context when I’m helping someone consider buying a home in Lafayette or moving to Lamorinda. Real estate data can tell you a great deal about a house and a market. It can’t tell you everything about living somewhere.

And because I spent years working extensively in Oakland, Berkeley, and the inner East Bay, I understand both sides of a move that I see frequently: selling an urban East Bay home and moving through the tunnel to Lafayette or Orinda.

Strategy Before Salesmanship

I don’t believe every house needs an expensive renovation before it goes on the market. I don’t believe every buyer should stretch to win a particular house. And I definitely don’t believe that telling a client what they want to hear is the same thing as representing them well.

My job is to help clients make good decisions.

Sometimes that means coordinating months of preparation before a sale. Sometimes it means recognizing that a home is already good enough and getting it to market. Sometimes it means moving decisively when the right property appears, and sometimes it means saying, “There will always be another house.”

Pricing, preparation, marketing, and negotiation aren't separate pieces of my work. They are parts of one strategy shaped by the property, the local market, and the client's goals.

Experience You Can Put to Work

Experience is most useful when it makes the process clearer for the person sitting across from me. I know what can go wrong in a real estate transaction because I’ve seen a lot go wrong. I also know how to make things go right.

For first-time sellers, especially those moving out of the area, that experience can mean leaving with confidence that their home is in capable hands. I treat my clients’ homes as I would my own, anticipate problems before they become bigger ones, and lead the process through closing. I know which problems can be solved, which ones deserve real concern, and when we need to change course.

I’ve been recognized among the top real estate professionals nationally. My work has included a record-setting price-per-square-foot sale in El Cerrito, as well as buyer representation in a $13.25 million off-market Piedmont transaction.

But the transaction I’m working on now is the one that gets my undivided attention.

Whether you’re selling in Oakland or Berkeley, buying in Lafayette or Orinda, doing both at the same time, or simply trying to figure out what comes next, I’m happy to start with a conversation.
